We went "glassing" with George and Ed one morning-- rode around for an hour or more looking for wildlife and checking them out with binoculars. I wanted a shot of the moon with antelope. This is the best one I got--when I used the telescopic lens it turned out very blurry. But this gives you the idea.

Friday evening we drove over to Elk Mountain and had barbecued steaks with George and Sue, Chris and Kate and boys and Pres and Nelda.

the view from home visit

I'm home!

I'm home! (Maybe I already said that...) I arrived in Midland Texas September 4th and have been enjoying every day HOME! The first couple of weeks were with Darren and Cara and their families. It was fun to get reacquainted with everyone, and I had quite a bit of time just with the kids. Cara's three had great plans for me to decorate their rooms, so we painted some murals. They are still young enough to be impressed with Aunt Jana's "art", and we had lots of fun!

I plan to post pictures of the kids. Meanwhile, here's one of Dorlene and me. We were on the edge of the huge snowstorm that covered a lot of MT and WY. Fortunately we made it to Green River on Saturday, between blizzard installments, and had our mtg there Sunday afternoon. Donovan Olson was at his parents' that weekend, so got to see him too! And Abe Keller is working in Green River until this spring, and he came over for supper and some music at Olson's. Old home week!

Here are some pics of our time in Riverton:

Vernon and Devin planned a potluck and sing Friday evening, so I got to see all the Riverton friends. They wanted to know all about you, mom and dad! I showed some pictures. Wayne Jr figured out that Riverton is almost exactly the same latitude as Almaty and has a similar climate, although Almaty is a lower elevation so the fruit, from apples and apricots to watermelon, are more successful.

Here are some pictures of our hike up Medicine Bow Peak with Joe and Jan Satake and Devin and Vernon.

It's not such a long hike, but at a high elevation and I was puffing! Dorlene and Devin must have run all the way up.
